Volunteer Docent Program

Do you feel a call to deepen your connection with the natural world and to be part of a thriving and vibrant community of volunteers?

We invite you to come spend a beautiful day at The Ojai Foundation Land Sanctuary, while sharing your gifts and being of service and stewardship to this magical place.

A a greeter, docent and threshold guardian, you will help to create and facilitate the conditions for deep listening, connection and magic to occur; welcoming guests upon arrival, being present in the office, sharing some of TOF's history, stories and mission, guiding visitors through the pathways, and inviting them to discover for themselves the sacred beauty and secrets of the land.

Quarterly trainings serve to inform and educate volunteer docents about TOF and the inner workings of the Land Sanctuary (specific to the gateway, guest relations and programs). Our intention is to help cultivate and support competent, prepared and inspired stewards-of-the-land. Trainings will include a Land Walk, TOF history and stories, information about the buildings/structures, hermitages (guest spaces), program spaces, kitchens, fire-safety protocol, etc.

Please contact us to find out when our next docent training will be.  Before attending the training, we request that you submit The Path of Service Application to initiate the process.

1. Please fill out and submit  The Path of Service Application online.

2. After reviewing your application, we will assist you in scheduling your docent shift.

3. Attend a Volunteer Docent Training prior to your shift, or by appointment. Please RSVP to volunteer@ojaifoundation.org

 * We highly encourage completing a Council Training or having some experience of Council prior to your docent shift.
